There's something about late November that invites reflection. The year is winding down, but we're not quite at the finish line yet. The trees are bare. The harvest is complete. And we find ourselves in that liminal space where we can finally see what the year has given us—and what it's asked us to release.
Enter Sagittarius season.
While Scorpio took us into the depths to face our shadows and do the difficult work of transformation, Sagittarius lifts our gaze to the horizon. The archer aims high, seeking truth, meaning, and perspective. This is the season that asks: What have you learned? What's been healed? And where are you pointed now?
November's journey from Death to Temperance has been intense. You've released. You've integrated. You've alchemized. Now it's time to acknowledge how far you've come and set your sights on what's next.
The Gift of Perspective
Sagittarius is the seeker, the philosopher, the eternal student. Ruled by Jupiter—the planet of expansion, wisdom, and abundance—this sign teaches us that healing isn't just about fixing what's broken. It's about discovering what we've gained through the breaking.
This is the energy that turns wounds into wisdom, struggles into stories, and pain into purpose. Sagittarius doesn't bypass the difficulty; it finds the meaning within it.
When Sagittarius season arrives on November 21st, we shift from Scorpio's emotional intensity to a more expansive, optimistic energy. It's like coming up for air after a deep dive—suddenly you can see the whole ocean, not just the depths you've been swimming through.
This is the perfect moment to take stock: What battles have you fought this year? What old patterns have finally loosened their grip? What parts of yourself have you reclaimed? What's been healed that you haven't fully acknowledged yet?
Why We Need Healing Check-Ins
Here's something I've noticed in my own journey and in working with others: we're often so focused on what still needs healing that we forget to acknowledge what already has.
We move from one wound to the next, one shadow to another, one challenge to the following obstacle. We're constantly reaching for the next level of growth, the next breakthrough, the next transformation. And in doing so, we miss a crucial step: celebration.
Acknowledging what's been healed isn't just feel-good fluff. It's essential to the integration process. When you take time to recognize your healing, you:
Anchor the transformation. What you acknowledge, you integrate. What you celebrate, you embody.
Build evidence of your resilience. Looking back at what you've overcome reminds you that you can handle what's ahead.
Honor the journey. Healing isn't linear. Recognizing progress—even small progress—keeps you moving forward when the path gets difficult.
Shift from scarcity to abundance. Focusing only on what still needs work keeps you in lack. Celebrating what's healed helps you recognize how much you already have.
Create momentum. Success builds on success. Acknowledging one healing often illuminates others you hadn't noticed.
This Sagittarius season check-in is your permission to pause and look back before you aim forward. It's your invitation to honor how much has shifted, even if—especially if—the shifts have been subtle.
The Healing Check-In Spread
This five-card spread is designed to help you see your healing journey with clarity and compassion. It acknowledges what's been transformed while also pointing you toward what's emerging.
Find a quiet space. Light a candle—gold or purple for Sagittarius energy. Take a few deep breaths and feel into the truth that you are not who you were at the beginning of this year, or even at the beginning of November.
As you shuffle, hold this intention: Show me what's been healed and where I'm headed.
Card 1: The Wound That's Healing - "What pain have I been transforming?"
Place this card in the bottom left position. This represents the hurt, pattern, or struggle that you've been actively working with. It might not be completely healed—healing rarely works that way—but it's no longer as sharp or consuming as it once was.
Don't be surprised if this card shows something you didn't consciously realize you were working on. Sometimes our deepest healing happens beneath our awareness.
Card 2: The Medicine - "What has supported my healing?"
Place this card in the top left, above Card 1. This shows you what resources, practices, relationships, or inner qualities have facilitated your transformation. This is what's been working, even if you haven't been giving it credit.
Pay attention to this card. It's showing you your strength, your support system, your healing modality. Whatever appears here deserves your gratitude and continued attention.
Card 3: The Gift - "What wisdom have I gained?"
Place this card at the top center. Every wound carries a teaching. Every struggle offers insight. This card reveals what you've learned through the healing process—the wisdom that could only come from walking through the fire.
This is often the card that helps people reframe their pain. Not bypassing it, not pretending it didn't hurt, but finding the gold that was forged in the flames.
Card 4: The Integration - "How am I different now?"
Place this card in the top right. This shows you how the healing has actually changed you. How are you showing up differently in the world? What behaviors, beliefs, or patterns have shifted? Who are you becoming through this process?
This is the evidence of your transformation. When you doubt whether anything has really changed, look to this card.
Card 5: The Horizon - "Where am I being called next?"
Place this card in the bottom right, completing your spread. Sagittarius always has one eye on the horizon. This card shows you what's emerging, what's calling you forward, where your healing is pointing you.
This isn't necessarily about the next wound to heal or the next challenge to face. It might be about the joy, expansion, or opportunity that's now available because you've done the work.
Reading Your Spread
As you turn over each card, let yourself feel before you think. What's your body's response to this card? What emotions arise? What memories surface?
Then consider:
For Card 1 (The Wound): How has your relationship with this pain changed? Can you hold it with more compassion now? Do you understand it differently?
For Card 2 (The Medicine): Have you been fully utilizing this resource? What would it look like to lean into it even more?
For Card 3 (The Gift): How can you share this wisdom? How can it inform the way you move forward?
For Card 4 (The Integration): Do you see this change in yourself? If not, ask someone close to you if they've noticed a shift—sometimes others see our transformation before we do.
For Card 5 (The Horizon): Does this direction excite you? Scare you? Both? What first step can you take toward it?
Look at the spread as a whole. Notice patterns in suits or numbers. Do you see a progression? A contradiction that needs reconciling? A theme emerging?
Journaling Prompts for Deeper Reflection
After you've read your cards, spend time with these questions:
What healing surprised me this year? Sometimes we heal things we didn't even know were wounded.
What supported my healing that I hadn't expected? Often our medicine comes from unexpected sources.
How has my definition of healing changed? We often discover that healing isn't about returning to who we were, but becoming who we're meant to be.
What old story am I finally releasing? What narrative about yourself or your life no longer fits?
What new story is emerging? Who are you becoming in this next chapter?
What do I want to acknowledge about my own courage and resilience? This isn't arrogance—it's recognition. You've survived everything that's happened to you so far. That's worth honoring.
Setting Your Sights Forward
Sagittarius is the archer, and archers need a target. Now that you've acknowledged what's been healed and what wisdom you've gained, it's time to aim.
Create a vision anchor. Based on Card 5 (The Horizon), choose one word or phrase that captures where you're headed. Write it on a piece of paper and place it somewhere you'll see it daily. This is your north star for the coming months.
Design a "healing wins" list. Start a running list of moments when you notice your healing in action. Maybe you set a boundary that would have been impossible six months ago. Maybe you caught yourself in an old pattern and chose differently. These moments are proof of your transformation—collect them.
Practice gratitude for the growth. Thank your past self for doing the hard work. Thank your present self for showing up. Thank your future self for continuing the journey.
Share your wisdom (when ready). Card 3 showed you what you've learned. Consider how you might share that wisdom—not from a place of "I've figured it all out," but from "here's what I've discovered on my path." Your story might be exactly what someone else needs to hear.
Take one aligned action. Based on Card 5, what's one concrete step you can take toward your horizon? It doesn't have to be huge. Small, consistent actions create lasting change. (Temperance taught us that, remember?)
The Sagittarius Invitation
Here's what Sagittarius season is really asking of you: Believe that your healing matters. Trust that your growth is real. Know that you're not the same person you were, and that's something worth celebrating.
You don't have to be "healed" to acknowledge your healing. You don't have to be "done" with your work to recognize how far you've come. In fact, you'll never be done—we're always growing, always learning, always becoming.
But right now, in this moment, you can pause. You can look back at the terrain you've covered. You can honor the mountains you've climbed and the valleys you've walked through. You can acknowledge that you're still here, still standing, still moving forward.
That's not nothing. That's everything.
As the year winds toward winter's rest, give yourself permission to see clearly. Not with harsh judgment about what you haven't done or who you haven't become, but with Sagittarian optimism about how much has shifted and how much is possible.
Your healing has prepared you for your horizon. Your wisdom has equipped you for what's next. Your transformation—however subtle, however ongoing—is real.
The archer's bow is drawn. The arrow is notched. And you're aiming toward a future that's informed by everything you've learned, healed, and become.
What's been healed for you? What wisdom have you gained? What horizon is calling? Draw your cards and let Sagittarius show you how far you've come—and how far you can go.
